Treatment focus areas
Specialties
Metaphorically speaking, I’ve had years of people “sitting on my couch.”
And there’s still room for you…
I’ve spent majority of my career working in community mental health settings so my therapist skin is pretty tough when it comes to working with a range of people, couples, and families with an array of mental health concerns and or life challenges, from depression to schizophrenia. Treatment Approach
Live Life Healed uses treatment approaches that are rooted in autonomy and respect for everyone. We are ALL impacted by social injustices and can no longer be ignored. Below are the foundational core values of Life Live Healed.
Social justice
Live life healed practices from a social justice lens. I adopt an intersectional approach that acknowledges the intersecting social identities and experiences of individuals. Recognizing that factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and ability intersect to shape individuals’ experiences of privilege and oppression.
Psycho-education
I provide clients with information and education about mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and self-care practices. It aims to empower clients by increasing their understanding and awareness of their mental health concerns and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to manage their symptoms effectively.
Consent
I work collaboratively with clients to co-create goals and interventions that align with their values, beliefs, and social justice aspirations. I validate clients’ lived experiences, and honor their expertise in navigating oppressive systems. I do this through the use of building rapport and establishing trust.
Advocacy
I will use my platform as a therapist to raise awareness of social justice issues and amplify marginalized voices. When opportunities arise I will seek awareness of policy changes, organizational reforms, and social initiatives that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in mental health care and society at large.
Empowerment
I support clients in recognizing their full potential of themselves. I encourage clients to identify their strengths, resilience, and agency in the face of adversity. Through the use of empowerment my goal as a therapist is support clients with self-awareness as well as cultivating resilience.
Collaborative
I work collaboratively with clients to co-create goals and interventions that align with their values, beliefs, and social justice aspirations. I validate clients’ lived experiences, and honor their expertise in navigating oppressive systems. I do this through the use of building rapport and establishing trust.
Because of the stigma that comes with mental illness we often don’t identify which leads to not seeking help. We don’t disclose our struggles for fear of judgment or because it looks like “weakness.” But we live in a time and place were life is too short and we owe it to ourselves to have some satisfaction in our life.
